• In order to be entitled to Social Security disability benefits, the law provides for a five-step sequential DISABLE_THISuation process to determine your eligibility. In addition, a claimant's impairment must be expected to result in death or have lasted, or be expected to last, at least twelve months.
   
• The Social Security Administration makes it easier to be found disabled as you get older. But you do not have to be bedridden to qualify for disability benefits even if you are a younger person. If you're under age 50, cannot perform past jobs, and cannot work full time at any regular job, you may qualify for benefits.
