Laura M. Ocampo

Laura M. Ocampo graduated from The University of Tampa, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in International and Cultural Studies and participated in the Moot Court National Tournament. Ms. Ocampo continued her education at Stetson University College of Law, where she became the president of the Hispanic Bar Association and obtained her law degree in 2020. During that time, she gained valuable experience working as a law clerk for a personal injury firm in Tampa, Florida.

Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Ocampo served the people of Florida as a prosecutor in the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. She advocated on behalf of thousands of victims throughout the community and tried numerous jury trials to verdict. After zealously advocating for thousands of victims, Ms. Ocampo joined Baker McKenzie, one of the top 10 law firms in the world, representing multiple Fortune 500 companies. Her representation included ensuring her clients were implementing and complying with consumer protection laws and regulations. Ms. Ocampo returned to her passion for litigation when she joined Lewis Brisbois. As an associate in the general liability practice, Ms. Ocampo defended clients against a myriad of property and personal injury claims, both for businesses and individuals.

Ms. Ocampo has a passion for mentorship and community involvement. She was involved in the Orange County Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association, hosting legal organization events. She has mentored law students attending Stetson University College of Law and has been a speaker for the Hispanic Law Students Association at Florida State University.

Born in Manizales, Colombia, and immigrated to Tampa, Florida when she was four years old, Ms. Ocampo is fluent in English and Spanish. Her passion to assist those in need ignited in 8th grade when she decided to become an attorney. She worked tirelessly to graduate high school with her associate degree and complete undergrad in two years. Ms. Ocampo’s dedication, hard work, and passion are evident in all her cases as she strives to obtain the best results for her clients.

Outside of the legal field, Ms. Ocampo enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and playing volleyball.
