Paralegal Post of the Week:

Written by Lancaster and Eure

The nurse case manager is in the lobby at my doctor’s appointment and wants to go in to the appointment with me. Can I refuse?

Absolutely. The nurse case manager has a right to confer and talk to your Worker’ Compensation physicians. However, they do not have the right to be in a room with you and, in fact, we discourage that. You should be able to speak with your doctor one-on-one without interference from the nurse case manager. Don’t be afraid to tell him or her that they cannot attend the appointment with you. Stick to your guns or call your legal assistant at Lancaster & Eure.
